At the 29th edition of Les Victoires de la Musique, French equivalent to the American Grammy, the award for Best World Music Album went to trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf for the album Illusions.
Ibrahim Maalouf was born in Beirut, he lives in France and is one of the most talented trumpeters of his generation. He is often listed among pioneers of contemporary jazz who combines pop, soul, hip-hop and French chansons with elements of traditional Lebanese music.
