One of the greatest drummers in the history of jazz is coming to Sarajevo!

American drummer Jack DeJohnette is one of the most important jazz musicians of our time, and without a doubt one of the most influential drummer and multi-instrumentalist in the history of jazz.

The Grammy and numerous awards winner in the past five decades of his career has left a mark on hundreds of recordings as a leader, co-leader and a visiting musician. It is interesting that DeJohnette participates on more albums recorded for the prestigious ECM label than any artist before.  Just this record label released 83 albums on which the name of this artist appears who was born in Chicago in 1942.

Rarely anyone can compete with the experience and skill of Jack DeJohnette . His ability to travel through different musical expressions makes him one of the most creative drummers of today, characterized by a rare skill of adjustment to almost every musical genre. Siunce mid sixties of the previous century he became a part of the Chicago jazz scene and has since co-operated with the greatest names in jazz such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charles Lloyd, Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk, Sun Ra, Freddie Hubbard, Chet Baker, Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland, John Abercrombie, Pat Metheny, John Scofield which demonstrates the versatility and talent of this musician who for nearly three decades plays with Gary Peacock in the legendary Keith Jarrett Trio.

Jack DeJohnette will perform at the 17th Sarajevo Jazz Fest on 7th of November with his new quartet consisting of Don Byron, clarinetist and saxophonist who has been on the scene for two decades as an instrumentalist, composer, arranger and critic. This artist too redefines boundaries in music by continually crossing them over through  the free world of improvisation, using  in a creative way elements of salsa, klezmer, R & B, funk, and other expressions. He transfers his valuable experience to the younger generations, at the university programs, such as the prestigious MIT.

Tickets for this concert that will be held on the 7th of November will be sold in the Bosnian cultural center at the festival box office at the presale price of 24 KM.
