Acclaimed saxophonist Yuri Honing will perform at the Sarajevo Jazz Fest on 31 October presenting his high voltage project Wired Paradise. This is a concert you shouldn’t miss, since the ensemble’s performance in Malaysia was voted one of the last year’s best live shows by the web portal All About Jazz.
Yuri Honing’s Wired Paradise consists of German guitarist and composer Frank Möbus, guitarist Stef van Es, bassist Mark Haanstra and drummer Joost Lijbaart. They released two studio and one live albums – Temptation (2006), Meet Your Demons (2008) and White Tiger (2010).
Led by the excellent Honing, the quintet plays high energy music, experimental as well as meditative, rounded up by improvisations by all band members. It is an impressive fusion of jazz and rock, distortion and balance, where Honing’s saxophone sounds like a melodic voice keeping it all together under the same umbrella.
